THE 44th EUROPEAN STUDY TOUR TOOK PLACE
 

 From Tuesday 25th to 28th March 2008


A study tour for Lecturers, Teachers, other Professional and Business People who are interested in visiting the institutions of Western Co-operation and discussing current events

The party visited the European Parliament, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the Institution for European Environmental Policy In addition there were presentations from the Council of Europe and  from the Permanent Representative to the EU of Estonia. All briefings included Q & A sessions and opportunities to gather supportive literature about the institutions visited.

The cost included travel by Eurostar and 3 nights en suite accommodation with breakfast at the 4* Hotel Carrefour de l'Europe which is situated in the centre of Brussels.

Shared accommodation (twin/double): £179 Single accommodation: £279

Bursaries of £120, funded by the Financial Times, for UK serving teachers/ lecturers.

 The Extension

An additional two night stay in the Hotel Carrefour de l'Europe was arranged for those members of the party who requested it.

The additional cost was: Shared accommodation with breakfast £75 Single accommodation with breakfast £130

The teachers/lecturers are supported financially by generous bursaries from the Financial Times and a subsidy from the European Parliament

2007

THE 43rd EUROPEAN STUDY TOUR TOOK PLACE

From Tuesday 10th to 13th April 2007


The group of 29 teachers/lecturers spent the three days 10 to 13 April in Brussels.

They visited SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe), the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of the European Union, the offices of the Maltese Government's Representative to the European Union and the World Bank.

At each of these venues they had lectures and Q & A sessions with representatives and, at the European Parliament, where they were guests of James Elles, MEP, from members and lobbyists of the institutions.

The teachers/lecturers were supported financially by generous bursaries from the Financial Times and a subsidy from the European Parliament
